Get Ready for “PLAY 2”: A Team-Based Challenge to Ignite Your Fitness Spirit
Welcome to “PLAY 2,” an invigorating and collaborative Workout of the Day (WOD) at the Academy of Self Defense in Santa Clara. Designed to foster teamwork, resilience, and strategy, this class is split into small squads of 3-4 warriors, ready to tackle a series of challenges together. The twist? One kettlebell per group that must never touch the ground. Someone in the team must always be squatting with it, ensuring the flame of teamwork and endurance burns brightly throughout the session.
The Mission
“PLAY 2” is more than a workout; it’s a test of communication, endurance, and teamwork. Here’s what your team will face:
- 100 Burpee Broad Jumps: Start with a burpee, then leap forward as far as possible. A dynamic exercise that combines strength, cardio, and agility.
- 200 Partner Dips: Team up for dips where one person provides the platform for the other’s dips, deepening the bond and challenge.
- 300 Walking Lunges: Step forward into a lunge, alternating legs, covering distance, and building lower body strength and endurance.
And the catch – the Kettlebell Squat Hold: While your team divides and conquers the tasks, one member must always be holding a kettlebell in a squat position. Rotate as needed, but remember, the kettlebell cannot touch the ground!

- Constant Communication: Keep the lines of communication open to efficiently switch between tasks and kettlebell holding.
