Step into the “TANGO” WOD: A Military-Inspired Fitness Mission

Embark on the “TANGO” Workout of the Day (WOD), a dynamic and rigorous fitness challenge inspired by the precision and discipline of military training. Hosted at the Academy of Self Defense in Santa Clara, this workout is designed for those who seek to test their limits, enhance their physical fitness, and embody the resilience and strength of a soldier. With a series of high-intensity exercises, “TANGO” is your battlefield, where every rep brings you closer to victory.

Your Mission: “TANGO” WOD

The “TANGO” workout consists of four rounds for time, challenging your endurance, strength, and agility. Each exercise within this WOD is carefully selected to provide a comprehensive workout that targets various muscle groups, ensuring a full-body challenge:

  • 10 3 Punch, Kick, Sprawl: Start with a dynamic combination of three punches and a kick, followed by a sprawl, to engage your upper body, lower body, and core, while boosting your cardiovascular health.
  • 20 Hip Thrusters: Strengthen your glutes and hamstrings with hip thrusters, vital for power and stability.
  • 20 Walking Lunges w/ Sprawl: Incorporate walking lunges to target your legs and glutes, adding a sprawl after each lunge for an added full-body challenge.
  • 20 Med Ball Pushups: Increase upper body strength and core stability with pushups, using a medicine ball to add an extra level of difficulty.
  • 20 Med Ball Squats: Conclude each round with medicine ball squats, focusing on lower body strength and endurance.

Strategy for Success

To conquer the “TANGO” WOD:

  • Pace Yourself: While the goal is to complete the workout for time, it’s crucial to maintain a pace that allows for consistent performance across all four rounds.
  • Focus on Form: Ensure each movement is performed with proper form to maximize effectiveness and minimize the risk of injury.
  • Stay Hydrated: Keep water nearby, especially as you push through the rounds, to stay hydrated and maintain peak performance.
